Vaterpolo klub Vojvodina

More than 75 years ago, at the beginning of September, the first official water polo matches in the city of Novi Sad were played at an improvised wooden court in Dunavac, then known as “Đačko kupalište.” Water polo players from Sombor, Petrovgrad (today Zrenjanin), Belgrade, and Novi Sad participated, and the team from Novi Sad won first place.

The love of water polo, success at the tournament, and the enthusiasm of those young people led to the formation of the Swimming and Water Polo Club “GALEB” at the Founding Assembly on November 29, 1935. The club replaced the name “GALEB” with “MORNAR” in 1959, and in 1962 joined the sports society VOJVODINA and adopted the name “VOJVODINA.”

From then until today, except during World War II, the club has continuously worked on expanding and developing the quality of water polo in the city and beyond. From Dunavac, through the open pool at SC Sajmište and the pool at SPC Vojvodina, the club eventually moved to the indoor pool at Klisa, where it feels at home.

Today, the club has grown into a modern organization that nurtures and develops the recognizable Vojvodina water polo school. With all its age categories, it is at the top of Serbian water polo and forms the backbone of national team selections. Thanks to the understanding of the city, the province, business partners, and especially the parents of its players, the club has managed, with great effort, to maintain its financial operations.

After few years of absence, Vaterpolo klub Vojvodina is back at TOMO 2026 with U14 category.
